Mr. Vaughn began his legal career as a patent examiner of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). After performing his government service at USPTO, Mr. Vaughn worked at various Washington, D.C. area law firms, including Nixon Peabody LLP.

As a patent examiner, Mr. Vaughn gained valuable first-hand understandings of the inner workings of USPTO, while examining patent applications for various technologies. In private practice, Mr. Vaughn has extensive experience in various areas of law, including patents, trademarks, licensing, transactions, and litigation.

In Mr. Vaughn patent practice, he has a broad technical focus in the electrical and mechanical arts. Technical specialties include semiconductor fabrication/manufacturing devices, machine tools, hand tools, automotive, medical device, and food processing.

In Mr. Vaughn's trademark practice, he has extensive experience in trademark preparation, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement. Mr. Vaughn's experience includes representing clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Vaughn also has extensive experience in copyright matters.

Mr. Vaughn is also a sports agent, specializing American football. Particularly, Mr. Vaughn is a certified NFLPA contract advisor and has negotiated contracts between professional athletes and several NFL teams (e.g. St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs).
